Hydro 131 #1 Posted August 7, 2011 I recently acquired a JD 265. Runs well, 48 inch deck. Seems to have plenty of power. Engine has 460 hours. Just curious about the 17 and its reputation. Thanks
T-Mo-(Moderator) 4,569 #2 Posted August 8, 2011 The Kawasaki engines are commercial grade and are excellent engines. At 460 hours that engine is still in it's infancy. It will last a long time. The only thing is parts are expensive and Kawasaki spec'd the JD engines to JD's specifications and you will have to go to Deere to get some parts as Kawasaki does not have those engine model numbers in their books. Some parts will interchange with other Kawasaki engines though.
Hydro 131 #3 Posted August 8, 2011 Good to know. Thank you. I am a Wheel Horse fan having owned three but my favorite the 416 let me down at 455hr. The valve guides went so I picked this one up in the interim. I have to so say it quite a nice running tractor and it cuts well.
