rydogg 186 #1 Posted August 3, 2011 The family tradition continues with the 2011 Threshing Bee it was a hot one (100+degrees) so the show was smaller than last year but we still had 4 threshers running and around 40 or so tractors plus a lot of equipment being shown. There is a link for a newspaper article and a short video they made below. This has been a yearly tradition in my family that has been going on for over 50 years, it started as just a family get together with one thresher and a couple tractors but has grown a lot over the years to include friends and neighbors and with family moving and selling their farms it has moved a couple times but not more than a mile or so. You will not see a lot of red in the pictures it seems like everyone has a John Deere or Oliver but next year I will bring some wheel horses out if the weather is more comfortable I live about 8 miles from the show so I may just drive the Farmall H with a hay wagon full of my horses . My wheel horse friends are always welcome if you can make it bring your and a plow so you can turn some dirt or better yet set up a belt pulley system and see if the little horse can spin a thresher that would be cool to see . this is a link to the newspaper article and video http://postbulletin.com/news/stories/display.php?id=1462775 Here are some photos I took
CasualObserver 3,411 #2 Posted August 3, 2011 Cool pictures Ryan, and thanks for the invite. Didn't have time to swing over though, was busy with home projects all weekend. Definitely want to put it on the calendar for next year though, let me know when you get a date set! And like we talked about.... we'll see if we can't make a belt pulley work on a ! How wide do I need to find? I'm thinking somewhere around 6" or so?
rydogg 186 #3 Posted August 3, 2011 It is usually the first Sunday in August depending on the oats but you can also get in on the cutting and loading bundles on hay wagons Saturday and setting up equipment, usually fireworks after dark on Saturday. I am pretty sure they all use a 6 inch belt. I should have been doing my house projects but it was way too hot for me. I just thought of something I have an extra 90 degree gearbox from one of my groundmaster mowing decks I should see if I can set up a belt pulley system with that. shorts 182 #4 Posted August 4, 2011 would it be possable to put a belt pulley on the front mount 540 rpm PTO adapter? I think it's a 1 3/8, 6 spline standard PTO shaft
CasualObserver 3,411 #5 Posted August 4, 2011 Exactly what I'm thinking... going to find out sometime between now and next August... I have an extra partial Farm PTO.
