K-301 Question

Recommended Posts

JC 1965

:ROTF: hi guys, I just got an old k-series K-301 engine for free. I pulled the head and saw .030 stamped on the piston. It has wear grooves in the cylinder walls. Since it has been bored out to the max, is there anything i can do? Someone told me I could have it bored and get a sleeve put in. Is that true? :woohoo: If so does it work well and is it very expensive? Any advice appreciated!! :D

Any good machine shop can bore it and sleeve it. You can also buy larger than .030 pistons from tractor pulling parts suppliers like Vogel manufacturing, midwest supercub, Lokota racing, Zach Kerber, Nichol's performance, etc., but the sleeve will still be cheaper in the long run.
