fourwheels0 191 #1 Posted July 29, 2011 my (grey block) 8 hp kohler (in a c-81) will idle fine but in order to give it more throttle to run i have to have the choke on some. it throttles up fine and seems to run great but only with the choke on maybe 1/4 to 1/2 way. it has sat for a while without running when i got it. is this the sign of a carb problem? or maybe the fuel pump?. i plan on changing the fuel lines, put in a fuel filter ect. where should i start looking to correct this issue besides what i plan to do. thanks. Coadster32 793 #2 Posted July 29, 2011 Not sure if you cleaned the carb yet, but it usually is a great place to start. If it will run on partial choke, then I doubt it's your pump. You could just try to richen the main a bit, and see if you don't need the choke. Good luck.
