Fuel issue on 414-8

Recommended Posts

smitty316

I have a 414-8 that's been slow to start. It has to crank for 20 or 30 seconds before it starts. I just noticed a drip on the bottom of the float bowl so I took it off and looked at the O ring. It all looks ok. When I reassembled it it leaks worse now. It's hard to tell for sure where it's coming from. Maybe the small fiber washer on the screw that holds the float bowl up? Also, how do I know if the pump is letting the fuel back down after it stops running. Maybe I have two problems here.

I looked on Parts Tree and it says the parts for this 31-14K804 are not available. Anybody know where I can find parts for this carb?

Thanks, Smitty

I would guess its that fiber washer. You can go to a auto parts store like NAPA they sell parts for Kholers. Not sure but you may have to buy a rebuild kit not just a washer.

find a real oldtime autoparts store that can get "PRIME LINE" Power Equipment parts and have them get a carb kit and float for you.

Prime Line is located in illinois and they handle small engine parts for kohler, briggs, techumseh, honda, etc
