mavfreak 11 #4 Posted July 29, 2011 What are you wanting to rake? Sometimes just dragging around a peice of chain link fence will work better than a rake.

IthacaJeff 151 #7 Posted July 30, 2011 Most equipment rental places will have a tow-behind York rakes, but unless you have really sandy soil, it may not work well. After tilling our 1.5 ac. yard we had the tractor guy York rake it and he made it worse. Huge piles and wind rows of dirt 'n rocks and tilled up grass. He actually "ungraded" the yard. I ended up using a bow rake and a landscape rake (the kind used on ballfields) by hand on the whole 1.5 acres. Biggest pain in the rear of any tasks I've done. Took the good part of a summer, a couple of hours a day. But I wanted it really rock free as this was going to be my kids' sports play area. Maybe the guy wasn't skilled, maybe I should have got a guy with a RockHound or a Harley rake. But its done. Jeff in Enfield NY
can whlvr 994 #8 Posted July 30, 2011 as mave freak said a peice of chain link with a pole weaved in the front to hook up to and i put a few cement blocks tied to the fence works really good for preping for sod,or seed and its cheap to get a small peice of fence
wh79d160 52 #9 Posted July 30, 2011 , Doesn't do much for rocks, but it makes a good seed bed & dethatcher. :woohoo:
DoctorHfuhruhurr 137 #10 Posted July 30, 2011 This is what I used on my yard after building my house. http://www.newhavenpower.com/YorkTA1Grader.html The combined grader blade was handy for leveling and gathering rocks.
