Mid-Mount York Rake

Recommended Posts

71_Bronco

So I was thinking last night.

I bought a grader blade to use with my Bronco. I will be using it to fix my parents 900 foot long gravel driveway, as it is hilly and gets the wash-board effect all the time. My dad usually uses a rear-mount york rake on his bigger Kabota.

So I was thinking. The grader blade will work, but the blade will tend to scrape and push rather then just fill and level like the york rake. I do not have the 3 point set-up on the back of my Bronco, so I cannot use the york rake from the Kabota.

So I thought, what if I made something similar to a grader blade mount, then put flexible "teeth" on it like a york rake. This way I can still use the up and down like the grader blade, but not be as aggressive with gravel moving.

Do you guys think it will work? Pro's & Con's?

I think you will have a hard time finding anything short enough and strong enough with flexability to be as effective as a York rake. The fingers could only be approximately as long as your grader blade is tall. You would be creating the first "Grader Sieve". It would probably make for some interesting design in the drive though! :woohoo:

A york rake works much better than a blade for what you are doing, no doubt about that.

You can buy blades from a farm store or catalog (email me if you need source) but they need to be long enough to flex, as mentioned above.

I have the York TA1 with the optional grader attachment. It works very well in a large area. I have never used the grader attachment since I have one for the tractor so I really can't tell you how well it works. This is probably the only attachment that I'll never part with!
