Got another one and need help!

Just took a 250 mile road trip and picked up this C series but I can't find it by the number on the plate 01-2KS01 you can't really see it in the picture.

It has a 16 h.p. Kohler K-341AS Spec# 71358 and Ser# 1902301173

As you can see in the pictures it is a black hood. Any help would be appreciated.

That's what I thought but what's with the model number?

I worked on the model tag picture and it's clearer in this one.

That's what I thought but what's with the model number?

try: zero one - one two K S zero one (01-12KS01)

S = Sundstrand (hydro unit) used only in the early 1980 3rd generation C series.

It has to be a 1980 C-125 Automatic.

Yes I just looked at the numbers again ad I did see that 1. It's not even with the other numbers and light. That could mean that someone replaced the engine with a 12 or the cover was changed to make it look like a 16. I guess the only way to know for sure would be to pull the head and measure the bore.

Thanks to all who replied.

Kelly

Just look at the head a 16 hp has more bolts holding it on, 10 I think, the 10,12 and 14 have 9 bolts, if I remember the bolt count right, but I know for sure a 16hp has 1 more.

Hey you are right about that Kelly. I just checked as I have a 12 h.p. and a 16 h.p. and that is the correct number of bolts. Nine bolts on the 12 and ten on the 16. Saved me a head gasket and now the mysteries are solved C-125 with 16 horse Kohler.

Thanks for all the help see you all at the Charlotte show.
