Help with 414-8

Recommended Posts

CRE1992

So I just picked up a rough 414-8 last week, but I havnt played with it yet because it needs some work, it has a Kohler M14 in it. It needs a new muffler, fuel line, fuel filter, basically a tune up, and a rear axle seal. Does anyone have any recommendations on what else to replace? Also the fuel line is it 1/4"? and how many feet do I need? Sparkplug model number? And rear axle fluid? Lucas gear oil?

Thanks,

Charles

can whlvr

the rear can be 80-90 weght gearoil,2 quarts,i think 8 feet does the fuel line but i would take the old off and measure to be sure,i allways get 10 feet but allways have a chunk left over, that i dont find a home for,and check the board for coorosion, they are a weak spot in the wiring(wish it was never used)but thats my opinion, sorry dont remeber the plug number without going outside, itts a common one i know that much,i have 2 414-8 and really like them other than the warning board that needs to be replaced on both, the rear seals are easily had, just getting the hubs off is the chalange, good tractors to do anything with

Thanks Boatman, I'm going to tune it up and get it running up to par, but I don't believe I will hold on to it, I already have a 416H and 520H. Thanks for the help though guys.

MNpuller

make sure to check your carborature for the oblonged throttle shaft and hole

after a while the shaft will wear and the bore will become oblonged

this will cause it to loose all power under load it lets to much are in the carb

I sold it about 2 months ago, the carb was fine on it.

Thanks for the input though!
