mrc 955 #1 Posted July 19, 2011 hi all, i'm trying to clean up a C160 for my son-in-law. i got the hood off. i wanted to remove the chrome hood ornament so i could have the hood powdercoated. how do you get the 2 round "clips" off the ornament without damaging it?? i tried prying but, it seemed i would break something. whats the best method??? thank you. mike in mass. TT-(Moderator) 1,162 #2 Posted July 19, 2011 I always pry one edge up enough to get my "side cutters" under it. Snip the retainer to release it, then just throw them away. You should be able to get new ones at your favorite hardware store. You can also put a narrow slot in a putty knife blade so it will slide on either side of the pin. Gently pry against the underside of the hood and the retainer should pop right off. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
