jbumgarner 12 #1 Posted July 18, 2011 I have a guy trying to sale me a 53' Walkbehind with original Clinton Engine. I know nothing about these, but have been looking for a good David Bradley and this appears to be even better because its a WH. Can anyone give me any informaion and maybe a value. Any information would be great. Thanks in advance. :woohoo:

SousaKerry 503 #3 Posted July 18, 2011 I have a 54 completely restored except the engine. They are a real treat to dive around man killer comes to mind..... Check the drive shafts for play in the up and down direction brass sleeves are used no bearings or seals if there is plat the entire transmission will have to be disassembled and rebuilt not to bad a job and most parts are available through a bearing house, not one part on the thing is available through toro so you have to do some digging

jbumgarner 12 #5 Posted July 18, 2011 Thanks for the information Mike and Kerry. If I could pick it up for around $250, Do you think it would be a fair price. I also love the Clinton Engine, so it is drawing me in. I believe I could also use the wheel and tires on my 702. They will need to be replaced and I think that will nearly cost me the same $250. Any thoughts.
SousaKerry 503 #6 Posted July 18, 2011 Sounds like a good deal the wheels should fit but don't part it out there are too few of these left
jbumgarner 12 #7 Posted July 18, 2011 Thanks Kerry, I would never dream of parting it out. I wouldn't part out anything unless it couldn't be salvaged. My real hope is to restore it to its original condition and bring it to a couple shows next year. I just need a set of rear wheels and tires for my 702 and thought that may be a way to talk my wife into letting me go ahead and buy it. I guess thats my way of working the system in my house. :woohoo:
