fdsinozich 1 #1 Posted July 15, 2011 My Tecumseh is knocking slightly and I am anticipating a change in the near future. I had to find some parts a while back and in the process I found that Tecumseh went out of business two years ago. I want to go with another manufacturer for that reason. Any suggestions that will bolt up without any modifications? Thanks, Frank

Buzz 502 #3 Posted July 23, 2011 Go with a Kohler K301, a direct bolt in. Tom I'm pretty sure that the ignition switch and electricial system need to be changed.

The 1974-75 C-120s came with either a Tecumseh or a Kohler engine for some strange reason. They are similar but not the same and there are differences you should be aware of before swapping brands of engine.

rwilson 128 #9 Posted August 14, 2011 the C series in 74-75 with the Tecumseh engines were called "special". it was printed on the decal under the C-120. So instead of the word 8 speed it said Special. I have seen the C160 special as well.
