RJ brass button kill switch

Recommended Posts

Eriks Red horse herd

Ok all you avid horse traders! was early 55 the only time RJ-25,35 used brass kill button or did it get carried through 55 into early 56?

Reason why i'm asking is because i just picked up a hood of craigs list this weekend and the hood has no name on the front and has gas tank straps under the hood but also has an original brass kill switch on it .

Wanting to pick some brains! :woohoo:

The RJ35 pictured on my avitar is "I think" a late 55 that is all original and has the original brass push button kill switch with the gas tank strapped under the hood, not the gas tank stand. It also has the smooth front hood and the oil bath style air filter on the clinton engine, which is also the earlier set up. My opinion is that the brass kill switch stopped by late 55 and was not carried into 56. Hope this helps. Take care of that brass kill switch, they are hard to come by. Good luck. :woohoo:

I've got what I believe is a early 56 model with the brass kill switch.

Hey thanks guys ! I was kind of wondering my self if it would be correct to put that hood with the brass kill on my late 55, early 56 tractor .

According to Joe Papke he thinks my tractor could be a late 55 model due to certain things on my tractor that was'nt in 56 model. Even though it has the sheet Metal formed frame.

Iv'e Been looking for a decent hood for some time and this one appered on Craigslist and it was close and was a good price! When i got there to pick it up i could'nt beleive my eyes when i saw the brass button kill on it! I knew they were quite rare. and this one is real good shape for a 55 year old . The only thing wrong with it is it needs a new spring so i'll have to take it apart ( CAREFULLY) and put in a new spring . I can't wait to get it on my machine!

THANKS AGAIN FELLOW HORSE COLLECTORS!!! :D:woohoo:

P.S- I'll try to get some picks of the hood and close ups of the switch front and back
