skinne44 0 #1 Posted July 9, 2011 :woohoo: Hi all, just joined the site looks like there is alot of good info here. I just inherited my fathers Wheel Horse D180 with 48 inch mower and heavy duty plow, I believe it is a 1975. Tractor has rear wheel weights and starts right up always kept in the garage but it is showing its age. Plan is to give it a good cleaning fix what needs attention and repaint. My first question is the manual talks about an oil filter under the #2 cylinder cover but when I looked it is not there just two bolts with some type of plate, has anyone ever seen this before. Second question, is this tractor one wheel drive or should both rear wheels spin when stuck. Sorry for the long post but I am sure I will have more questions with this project. Thanks. slufoot733 70 #3 Posted July 9, 2011 :woohoo: Not sure on the oil filter but the rear tires both drive....normally. The rear axle does have a differential unit, just like a car. But it is not a limited slip, or 'posi-traction' unit. Therefore, if you're stuck in mud or snow one wheel will spin while the other just sits there. This is normal and not a defect.
