identification of wheel horse

i have a 1973 8hp 4 speed model # 1-0120. the serial number is 961952 is there a break down of what the serial number means. thanks for the help just trying to learn everything about my tractor.

In short no, there is no paper work available to the public that will tell you anything about the tractor by the serial no. unlike other brands, wish we could.

To elaborate on Kelly's comment. Wheel Horse assigned model numbers with no rhyme or reason that can be definitively deciphered. They mean relatively nothing other than a way to identify a particular model year of machine, and sometimes that is not even true in all cases. Several model numbers where made in multiple years where a serial number break defined the year of manufacture. An even smaller number of cases exist where numbers contained a "common thread" between years, but they are very far and few between.
