dodger21 0 #1 Posted July 4, 2011 Pics to come tomorrow hopefully. Just wondering a few different things. Did they ever come with front lights? Mine has brackets and they "look" stock. Does the fan for the trans push air toward the drive unit or pull it away? Mine are all bent up. What is the red light for? Which mule drive do I need for the deck? The stock one or the front mount one better? Some history. My parents bought a farm around 2003 when I was 15 and the previous owners had left this there as it wouldn't run right and just quit one day. My grandfather looked at it and said the ignition switch broke. Replaced it, gave it some gas, and she sputtered to life. My grandfather then brought a stethoscope and tuned the carb. Ran great for 2 years! To mow the 3+ acres, we used this horse and had a small issue. The far left spindle wasn't there! Bypassed with a different length belt and it ran beautifully for 2 years, albeit with a 28" swath. One day, as we were mowing, we were heading back to the shed when it took off on us and threw a rod. Governor stuck somehow. My friend (BIG AC/Simp fan!) helped us rebuild and put it back together. A week later, he helped to weld a plow frame up for the underbelly hitch point. 2 months later, the cast iron swivel thing for the mule broke for the mower. It has since then been used for plowing until my dad bought a newer Simplicity. So, the last time it ran was about 3 years ago and finally getting back around to it now that I am more than likely getting a house in the next couple months if the bank says yes! Btw, my friend who helped had disowned Kohler because his B&S equipped AC's never let him down. His dad owns about every B model made. To settle a small dispute, he was over plowing up my dads garden one day when we hooked a chain up to his B112 and my Horse . Me on the with hydro and turf tire. Him with 3 spd, big pulley for plowing/tilling, and cleated tires. He kept stalling! My engine would get down to a put-put-put and spinning tires pulling him forward and his screaming B&S with the low gear and LOW PULLEY couldn't pull me forward on grass! He found some respect for this thing and eventually found me a snow plow to connect up under the rear axle. I am forever a fan of big cast-iron flywheeled Kohlers! rmaynard 16,344 #2 Posted July 4, 2011 Here is a good place to start. Go to MyWheelHorse.com and download the owners manual and parts list for your tractor. You will also find a manual for the transmission too. Here is a link to the owners manual: http://www.mywheelhorse.com/modules.php?na...show_doc&id=192 Many of the questions that you have will be answered by looking through the manuals. Here's one that I can answer for you. The red light on the dash is your generator light. Normally when the engine is running it should be off. If it is on, then the charging system is not working, indicating a problem either in the generator, the regulator, or the wiring. I'm sure that others will chime in too with more answers to your questions.

boovuc 1,090 #4 Posted July 4, 2011 Hi and On the generator light........if it isn't doing anything, it's burned out. If it had a working bulb it tells you if the charging system is working properly by remaining unlit anytime the system is producing 12+ volts. It will light up if the charging system is producing UNDER 12VDC. If the bulb was working, you would see it light up when you try to start the tractor. I have two old tractors and neither work. I need to dig up the bulb number for them. There were lights sold as an accessory on the older mid-60's tractors. Not sure if your model came with them. Most didn't back then. On the PTO Drive, someone else will come along to better explain a conversion. It can be converted to a mule drive but depending on the deck you have, you may require the original PTO setup. Some fabrication is required. Not sure about the tranny fan. Good Luck! BooVuc Mill Hall, PA
rmaynard 16,344 #5 Posted July 4, 2011 On the generator light........if it isn't doing anything, it's burned out. Good point BooVuc. Probably the reason they went from the idiot light to an ammeter later on.

It happened... Not trying to look cool. Thought it was a funny story. He told me the belt would slip too much and when he tried to just dump the clutch, it died. Thanks for the link. More reading. :D
dodger21 0 #7 Posted July 4, 2011 Small problem... My Wheel Horse.com doesn't like my Gmail or my wifes Yahoo account and I do not have an ISP account. Can anyone help?
dodger21 0 #9 Posted July 5, 2011 Well, 2 things happened today. The biggest one is, my younger brother just got a house to rent with 2 acres and came by today to pick up the Wheel Horse. But the good thing is it is staying in the family and I will be helping a lot along the way. Not wanting a family feud, I just let him have it. Close by is a 1257 with 36" deck and a 42" blade for $450. I will calling him up tomorrow.
farmer 1,078 #10 Posted July 5, 2011 Hello Dodger21, Sounds like a busy time ahead for you, good luck. Don't bet your new home on it, but I think the transmission fan draws air in, then it passes the over the pump/rear end on its way out. (thats how it works on my hydro anyway) :woohoo:
