312Hydro 473 #1 Posted July 3, 2011 I was doing a search on the narrow tiller and came across this. Is it the front pulley that makes this so desirable? I don't know, but with 3 hours to go it looks like it will be selling for more. Type in wheel horse tiller on Ebay to find. If the auction ends go to completed listings. I can't show a pic as Ebay pics don't copy. Seems like way too much for me. :woohoo:
TT-(Moderator) 1,128 #2 Posted July 3, 2011 If you're referring to item #130538666728, that is a prime example of the old saying "a fool and his money are soon parted". Unfortunately, auctions like that are also the basis for the outrageous prices being asked for items not being sold on eBay. Pretty good profit on $10 worth of steel and $40 worth of pulleys, huh? Funny thing is, I can get all the parts from Toro to assemble the newest version of the tiller drive belt tensioner for around $225 - or about $175 without the belt guard. Go figure. :ROTF:
312Hydro 473 #3 Posted July 3, 2011 Thanks for confirming my suspicion,TT. You are right about that old saying! I plan on making my own similar to what others on the forum have done. Probably make a rock shaft like Lost Pup's too. That's what I like about this forum, the members will save you money if you search for posts or just ask! :woohoo:

TT-(Moderator) 1,128 #5 Posted July 3, 2011 Do you suppose the seller's grin wraps the whole way around his head? :woohoo:

Electro12WH 50 #8 Posted July 3, 2011 Can you build the knives, too?
mr.pipes 4 #9 Posted July 3, 2011 I can't show a pic as Ebay pics don't copy. You can't copy pics from the top left on ebay. If you click enlarge you can then right click and save the pic. Owner described the condition as new. Like TT said, you can get a new one cheaper with the guard. Maybe the bidders just aren't aware parts are still available. Maybe the bidding gives them a rush similar to what gamblers experience.
TT-(Moderator) 1,128 #10 Posted July 4, 2011 Can you build the knives, too? With the proper steel and machinery, they could be manufactured. I've even seen a few with pieces of tines from other brands of tillers welded to the tines.

312Hydro 473 #15 Posted July 4, 2011 I predict it will hit 70.00 by the 4th day. If you paint the pulleys red I bet you get an extra 50.00 :woohoo:

RT WH416H 10 #18 Posted December 27, 2014 Hi, I see that this is an older post, but I need the front idler pulley and vbelt for a tiller. It looks like some members also make these. Please let me know if someone has one of these to sell. Also, where is the best place to get the vbelt.

Please let me know if someone has one of these to sell. Also, where is the best place to get the vbelt. Post your needs in the wanted section, you'll get more results faster. As to the belt, some members have gone to Napa or TSC and gotten the cheap belts, and some members, myself included, have ordered the belt through Toro as it comes with a covering on the belt to provide that extra grab... yes its pricey but You'll only ever need to buy one (mine is Six years old and looks brand new)
