856 Goes Steppin' Out

Recommended Posts

rmaynard

I picked up this 856 from a metal scrapper back last summer in trade for $75.00 worth of metal shelving. It's been stored in my warehouse ever since. I got it out, dusted it off, and took it to the Wheel Horse show last week. There I bought a new choke cable and ignition switch.

I tried to sell it and a snow plow at the show, but didn't get any offers that I could accept, so home it came. But instead of storing it away in the warehouse again, I put her to work.

Even thought I am known as B100-Bob by some, the 856 has become my new favorite worker.

Here are some pictures of her helping me to take some trimmed branches down to the woods.

Is that the condition it was in when you traded for it? That was a great deal. Looks pretty good! I like the last pic with the :D in the woods. :woohoo:

Thats a really good looking tractor. It might just be a blessing in disguise that it didn't sell at the show :woohoo:

Yes, that is the condition. All I did was install a helicoil, new plug, add a little gas, and oh yeah, it needed a woodruff key in the drive pulley. Otherwise, as found.

Sorry I missed you at the show John. If you had seen it, you may have bought it. :D I didn't get there until after 6PM on Thursday.

very nice 856 bob.

not sure of the differences between your 856 and my 875, other than year and transmission, but they look very similar.

i always look forward to riding/mowing on my 875. such a neat little tractor, fantastic turning circle and can get through some tight spots when needed to.

Actually, I think it's only the date and some decal changes. Engine and transmission are the same K181 and a 5053.

My 856 is my favorite worker also. :woohoo: It's used for every thing from hauling firewood, plowing snow, and cutting grass. It has also been known to do the occasional back flip to get my attention................ :ROTF: But that's a whole 'nother story. :D

I am a witness to those run ins...if you need me to testify let me know. :ROTF::P Don't know how many times I said, "Make sure it's out of gear." before you start it. I think I helped grab the reigns one time. Glad your foot is better Mike. :woohoo: :D
