Kelly 1,033 #1 Posted June 27, 2011 I was working on my Daughters 857 getting ready to spray the primer, and figured out I was out of thinner to clean the gun when done spraying, so before mixing anything I went to TSC, to get thinner and a roll of tape, one of the guys that works there knows I have WH tractors, so he asked if I might want to buy another, he just a hour before delivered a new tractor to a guy just out side of town, and he parked his old tractor by the road for sale, a 520, so after picking up my supplies I headed to the guys house, there set a nice but used 1995 520 with 42" recycler deck, sign said $600 but had a wiring problem, and was not running now, I asked how low he would go, and he said $400 well I needed another tractor like a hole in the head, so I offered $300 and was going to walk, when he said sold, so I came home sprayed the primer on the 857, cleaned up, and hooked up the trailer, it is a one owner, machine, they brought it with them from OK. when they moved to MI. and was serviced every year, even the trans was drained and filled every year, and was just done a few weeks ago, over all it's nice but needs TLC, I got home and had to see if I could get it started, so I ran a jumper wire to the coil and jumped the start solenoid, it fired right up and runs great, it has 404 on the hour meter, when I get time I need to figure out the wiring issue, another one of those being in the right place at the right time, and letting everyone know your interested in WH tractors. Kelly 1,033 #4 Posted June 27, 2011 They just find me, yesterday I was mowing when a truck pulled up with a WH in tow on a trailer, he wanted to know if I wanted to buy it, he said it had a bad trans. I could see the key in the hub sticking out the face, I picked that ruff little C-81 with 36" deck up for $75 at my door, so like I said spreading the word pays off. The trick to being able to get a lot of these deals is having the available slush funds at hand when the phone rings or when someone pulls up in their truck.
