Tim 97 #1 Posted June 26, 2011 I got my Dad's 314-8, it is about a 1996. he only used it to plow well I am mowing with it and the engine keeps cutting out, i disengage the PTO and it goes back to normal. the light for the PTO on the dash flickers when this is happening I unplugged the PTO switch and now it will only start and run if I jump it across the solenoid. this is a short term solution. Does anybody KNOW if replacing the PTO switch is the problem I don't mind buying one if i know it will fix the issue, but i'm guessing it will be expensive... I ran an ammeter across the switch terminals but as it cuts out intermittmently, i don't think i'm seeing the problem. does anybody know if; or feel strongly that.. the switch is the issue what the part number is does anybody here have one how much thanks a ton tim
can whlvr 994 #2 Posted June 26, 2011 i would check over all the wiring and check the connections, spray with a good electrical cleaner, and if problem persists then get a new safty switch,
WH nut 553 #3 Posted June 26, 2011 There are 2 switches on the PTO, when you disconnected it you disconnect both, One goe to the ignition, the other to the start side. If it will run with a jumper your switch is either going bad or your PTO leaver has developed slop in it and may need to be adjusted or some bushiongs replace. You are half way there with your trouble shootin
