Tim 97 #1 Posted June 26, 2011 is it simply the oil pan as the K321 As is mounted to the rubber mounts? If that is the only difference, can the oil pans be interchanged? thanks
TT-(Moderator) 1,162 #2 Posted June 26, 2011 The pan mounting area at the bottom of the block is also different - at least in the case of the C series Wheel Horse models. Which ultimately answers your other question....... the pans will not interchange. What style do you have/need?
Tim 97 #3 Posted June 26, 2011 i have a 79 C141 auto the motor has already been rebuilt and bored.030" the motor on it is a 321AS i have a K321s that came of and Ariens. Spec #60238d ( I bought it at the show and was told it came off a wheel horse. a Salesman lied ...must be the 1st time) anyway i was wondering how different are they and can it work it is important to me to keep the PTO intact. TT-(Moderator) 1,162 #4 Posted June 26, 2011 If the PTO end of the crankshaft is the same diameter & close on the length, you can install it on your C-141, but you'll need to remove all of the isolation mount pieces and bolt the engine directly to the frame. This is no big deal since all of the C series tractors prior to 1978 had solid-mounted engines, as did most everything after 1984. The only catch will be the two right side bolts holes that need to be drilled & tapped into the bottom of the pan: ........and the location of the drain plug. You can get around not having the holes in the bottom of the pan - even though it's not complicated to add them if you remove the pan. (which I would do on a "strange" engine, just so I knew what was inside) You can just use "J" bolts hooked over the bottom lip of the angle iron frame rail and up through the existing holes in the corners of the pan. Tim 97 #5 Posted June 26, 2011 thanks a ton the only other issue i may have is that the oil drain plug is in the lower right of the picture you posted i'll keep you updated
TT-(Moderator) 1,162 #6 Posted June 26, 2011 Pretty good possibility that someone (other than myself) can hook you up with the correct oil pan. If you decide to place a "wanted" ad in the classifieds, ask for a 1976/77 C-120/160/B-100 or even a 1985/86 310/312/314/414/416 pan. (there are many others that will fit too)
