Post on fixing front axle pivot

Recommended Posts

Remember a post where someone was restoring a tractor, addressed the front axle pivot. As most old tractors it's wore out. The 854 I picked up has this pretty bad, moves all over the place. I dunno if I'm not using the right search words or what, but can't seem to find it. Trying to figure out the best way of fixing it. The axle itself can be bored and a bushing pressed in, but the frame where the pin goes thru is wallowed out good too. I have a welder so that won't be a problem, but once you get welded, how do you drill it straight and square??

I won't have time today, but I can get some pics of what I'm talking about, also some "clean" pics of the tractor, and something I didn't know when I got it, a new short block!!!!! (explains why it runs saweeeeeettttttttt!!!!!!) Started right up after some fresh gas and jumper cables, and been sitting for at least 10 years.....
