Aulora 0 #1 Posted June 20, 2011 Cleaning out my parent's storage building I found a 653 wheel horse tractor. The tractor seems to be original but the gas tank is missing. I have no idea what to do with this thing. Would it be best to list it on Craig's list? Or look for a collector? And if I find someone who wants it what is a fair price for it? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! :hide:
stevasaurus 23,292 #2 Posted June 20, 2011 First second, that seems like a very nice horse...are you sure you want to part with it or maybe get it in shape? Looks nice and straight and original. Most of us would get her in shape. Lots of help here if that is your aim. :WRS:

Aulora 0 #4 Posted June 20, 2011 Thanks for the welcome! Yeah I know where the gas tank is LOL - but it is in half and needs to be re welded together. I do have both pieces. It is a nice machine and I know it could be cleaned up and rebuilt but honestly I don't have anywhere to keep it. I have pictures of my husband riding this mower when he was 3 and also pictures of my 16 year old riding this same mower when he was 3 so I know the history of ownership of this particular horse. The motor still runs and the deck works as well. In fact until the tank broke my father used to mow with this thing. I am located in Tullahoma Tennesee if you want to come down from Indy. Thing is this mower originally lived in Greenfield Indiana for a large portion of its life until my father-in-law passed.
Indy w h 5 #5 Posted June 20, 2011 Ok so your 2 piece gas tank has been taken apart at one time so somebody could install the gasket but it was never installed and is in 2 pieces !! I'm in west central Indiana and a road trip to Tennessee might be a little far for me.
puddlejumper 67 #6 Posted June 20, 2011 Thats what it sounds like to me Indy. I am a little closer. But I have gone a little nuts lately with purchases and am out of room. It does look like a exceptional example though.

Aulora 0 #9 Posted June 22, 2011 Thanks for all the input and interest! The wheel horse has gone to a good home with someone who frequents this board. I look forward to seeing pictures of it once it is restored. :hide:
