baerpath 517 #1 Posted June 2, 2008 Bought my newest tractor a 90 ? 520H Found out why it was for sale when I went to load it The main line to the lift valve is cracked, what a pain to get to replace. Any thoughts how to replace it without a complete dismantle job ? Was a little of a let down but looking at the never used Kwick way loader, snow blower, push blade with extension, almost new looking 48 inch deck I started to feel better and shows 380hrs It does have the forward swept axle and the reduction steering too Any thoughts about the line greatly appreciated Duane
DMESS 24 #2 Posted June 2, 2008 Duane that sounds like a heck of a find with all those attachments! I can't help you with the lift line problem as I'm just getting to closely examine a 520 for the first time myself! I think we need pics of this haul!

Dual Wheels 2 #8 Posted June 2, 2008 You're Right Duane, it's a real pain to replace the line. Tha seat and fender have to come off allong with the two plates on the console the parking brake knob (Roll Pin) and side plate. Romove the battery to gain access to the two holes under it . The holes let you get to the control valve bolts(if you find just the right size socket to fit through). Romove the two bolts, remove the hoses from the lift cylinder . Pull the control valve out with all hoses . Then you should be able to turn the valve to change the leaking hose. Then re-install the valve and cylinder hoses, makeing sure the new hose doesn't rub on the stearing gears Unless its a 91 or newer and the lines are steel...then I have no idea...LOL..they are probably worse ....Good luck and keep me in mind if you want to sell that bucket... :WRS:
WheelHorse_of_course 99 #9 Posted June 4, 2008 And keep everything surgically clean. This is extremily important if you want it (the hydro system) to last.
baerpath 517 #10 Posted June 6, 2008 Update Got home tonight and had some spare time Seems I have a 97 520, while I was out driving my wife started taking the tractor apart to get the steel line out. (She Deffinitly a keeper) Got the line out now have to order a new one tomarrow was cracked just below the lip. Wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, only had to move the engine forward, remove the blocker plate, center panels, fenders and the right wheel. In all not nearly as bad a job as we feared Duane
