tarcoleo 119 #1 Posted June 15, 2011 Is it true that Geico can save you 15% on your car insurance? Do smart Wheel Horse owners remove the grease fitting on the primary (center) deck spindle except when greasing it? Tom in RI :hide:
sgtsampay 117 #2 Posted June 15, 2011 I am now since I have lost 2 fitting that way on my 48iner. LOL.
daemon2525 5 #3 Posted June 15, 2011 OK, I'll bite. Why take it out?
sgtsampay 117 #4 Posted June 15, 2011 I had to leave mine out cause on my 48in, the middle spindle fitting hits on the lift bar and then the fitting is grounded off. If the fitting is taken off, then the clearence is just perfect.
chazm 412 #5 Posted June 15, 2011 WOW !!! Tom, can you really save 15% on car insurance How much can you save on tractor ,boat ,home, motorcycle or rental insurance Is it still 15% ?? danjmah 71 #6 Posted June 15, 2011 I had the same issue. I resolved it by adding a couple of washers which pulled the lift bar over and away from the center spindle.
dmoore 687 #7 Posted June 16, 2011 Is this only a problem on the 48" decks or 42" also?
MalMac 1,328 #8 Posted June 16, 2011 It's close on my 42 and on my 48 I have had the same problem. It has knocked it off several times. I ended up just taking it out. Putting it back in to grease. The washer thing looks like a good option.
IthacaJeff 151 #9 Posted June 16, 2011 I guess it is nice to know that others have the same problem. I've knocked out a bunch of the center zerk fittings and now I go zerkless. Maybe I'll try the washer thing as I've got to take the deck off today and figure out why I was getting sparks on the right side deck pulley. Not a good sign! tarcoleo 119 #13 Posted June 17, 2011 Daniel- Your photo of the washers/hairpin solution gave me an idea that a washer/shaft collar arrangement might also work. Tried it and it does. Tom in RI :hide:
Don1977 604 #14 Posted June 17, 2011 I have a fitting in mine that has the top wore off. I just remove it install a good fitting to grease it ,then put the old one back into keep the trash out.
