nhrc1 1 #1 Posted June 14, 2011 Getting ready to put the transaxle back together for the D-160. My question is do I put the cases together with nothing on the gaskets (transaxle halves, and gear motor to transaxle) or use a sealant? Thanks Dave
pfrederi 18,630 #2 Posted June 14, 2011 I have done both ways haven't noted any real difference. I have not gone back later and tried to open them again... no sealer may make that easier. If you use it I would suggest a spray or a very very light coat..you don 't want blobs of sealant floating around your hydro system. Bottom line if you see some oozing out the seam on the outside you can be sure there is some oozing out on the inside and that is not a good thing.
shorts 182 #3 Posted June 16, 2011 If I wanted to ever take it back apart,I'd just use a little grease to hold it in place on the half with the dowel pins, if I wanted a permanent seal I would use some aerosol permatex hightac aviation sealer on both sides of the gasket and case, clean up the overspray with solvent on a rag
