CRE1992 135 #1 Posted June 14, 2011 The middle spindle shaft and pulley on the 60" deck I picked up with the 520H need to be replaced, well atleast the pully anyways, the bearings are fine, no play what so ever. The pully is out of round, and ground down on the bottom, what do you think I need to replace, and what else should be replaced in the process? Pictures will come in about 15 minutes please stand by... Thanks, -Charles

CRE1992 135 #3 Posted June 14, 2011 Im starting to think I should replace the bearings because I am this far, can anyone or would anyone compile a list of things I should replace for the center spindle? Help would be appreciated. Thanks, Charles
shorts 182 #4 Posted June 15, 2011 rewplace the pulley/sheave and the shaft for sure, if their is any question about the bearings/seals change them also, "fix it right the first time so you don't have to take it apart again'' :hide:
cheesegrader 433 #5 Posted June 16, 2011 check the spindle housing underneath as well. Look for little cracks around the bolts that attach it to the deck. THe cast ones in particular seem prone to break at the mounts. Or you cold miss this and get to do it over again like me.....
CRE1992 135 #6 Posted June 16, 2011 Thanks, I ordered everything but the pulley and housing and got it today, the pulley I am ordering Monday, I took the spindle housing off the deck, and cleaned it off and let it soak in a little tub of diesel for about 30 minutes, and then wire brushed, it has no cracks. Hopefully by next week it will be up and mowing.
