brake adjustment help

Can someone help explain the brake adjustment procedure on the D160. It is a 77 model and doesnt have the brake band. I understand that its dynamic braking thru the hydro but I can seem to get it to lock the wheels. It seems that I have to use the DCL and pul it into reverse. I have tried adjusting the "neutral" postion cam but I am not sure that I understand the process. Any help is appreciated.

The only physical bake on your D is the parking pawl (and it isn't what you want to stop the tractor).

I think you meant to say "Can't lock" If so that is normal the tractor will stop but unless some big trailer is pushing you on gravel you aren't going to lock up the wheels and slide.

Now if you mean that the tractor rolls away from you after you stop (on a level surface)that is a neutral adjustment problem.

Yes that is what I mean. It will not come to a full stop when I press the brake pedal. It will "coast" a few feet before it stops.

Just wanted to update on the braking issue. I finally had time to work on the tractor. It was the neutral adjustment. The "hidden" set screw has been loose for years as it was rusted in place. this was allowing the eccentric adjusment to just roll around. I followed the adjustment procedure from the manual and then got the set screw loosened from the rust. Once i tightened the set screw the eccentric did not move anymore. Gave it a test drive and she will now leave skid marks.

Thanks for the help.
