DavidD 0 #1 Posted June 11, 2011 I noticed today when I try to shift between low and high, whichever range it is in, It seems to stick there. Really hard to get out of that range. When it finally comes out, It just bangs into the opposite range. I don't think it was that way before it's long vacation. I did have the transaxle out of it and split it for another problem that it did not have, but between looking at the book and looking a the shifter point inside, every thing looked ok. Could there have been something in particular I should have been looking for? The main shifter works really smooth, no problems there. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
TT-(Moderator) 1,162 #2 Posted June 11, 2011 That's "normal" if it wasn't shifted between ranges much - and especially if it's been sitting for a while. The detent ball & grooves on the bolt are the only things holding the sliding gear in the proper position and it needs to stay where you put it. Remember to come to a COMPLETE stop before shifting between ranges. (and all other gears, for that matter) If it doesn't get any better with use, this is my suggestion...... If the tractor will move under it's own power, drain the tranz and refill with 2 quarts of ATF, run it for a little while, (like an hour or so) drain & refill with the correct gear oil. (the ATF will help clean & loosen things) By doing this, you will also find out how good the seals are. :hide: Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
DavidD 0 #3 Posted June 12, 2011 Thanks, I don't go between high and low very often. I was kinda worried I may have missed some thing when I had it apart. As far as seal shape, I put mystic back in it, now I have a small seepage at the brake shaft. leaves a spot about 2 inch around after 2 weeks. I will watch it close and probably reseal this Fall.
