mr.pipes 4 #1 Posted June 10, 2011 Does anyone have any tips on getting a higher cut out of a deck? I have been using a 48SD with a Power-Flo bagger. Where the ground is uneven it cuts way to close. Even on the flat it is a little low for my liking. I plan on doing something this fall to help with the high and low spots but still wouldn't mind a higher cut. Have any of you modified your decks for a higher cut? Do you have any suggestions?
skrusins 128 #2 Posted June 11, 2011 I read an article by a RS member about putting fender washers under the height adjuster. I tried it and I my 48in deck to 3 1/2 in. I haven't been able to find that article even with a search. What I did is put 2 fender washers under the top bolt and 1 under the bottom. You can get the washers from a body shop. Hope this helps. coldone 35 #4 Posted June 11, 2011 ,i always wondered what the heck would you need the lowest settings for, rototilling with the mower deck? My 4yo son stepped on and was bitten by a copperhead 3 weeks ago. I got the new d160 running and dropped the deck as low as it would go and mowed the yard. Now we can see everything in the grass from a good distance away, even the ants He has made a full recovery with no after effects.
HankB 16 #5 Posted June 11, 2011 I put bigger gauge wheels on my 42" SD. I would suggest going 1" bigger diameter because I can't use all of the height from the 2" bigger diameter that I tried.

skrusins 128 #7 Posted June 16, 2011 Hi Hank, Can I ask the dimensions of that 8in. gauge wheel, 8X? offset ? Also maybe a part no or where to buy it. I've been looking for a 7 in without any luck. Hope I not too much trouble, Thanks Stan Hank Wrote: It's on this page: http://www.mcmaster.com/#2331t53/=cr1sfb It should show up with a yellow highlight. I think the hub is flush on one side and recessed on the other. The line above it is a 7" wheel. (It would be best to keep this discussion on the board so all might benefit.)
