Howdy :hide: My 702 had play in many different components in the front end. A lot of it was because the spindles and wheel bushings were terribly worn from use and lack of lubrication and were toast so I built new spindles for it and I replaced the wheels bushings with bearings and that took care of that problem. The next source in mine were the 1/4" roll pins that hold the steering sector and the other gear to the shaft as well as the 1/4" roll pins that secure the spindles to the steering levers on top of the axle. My steering was just fine after doing these things.Id take a real close look and isolate the source or sources of the play and go from there. You can buy the roll pins really reasonable at Ace hardware and I got the bearings at Bearing, Belt and Chain but I think I saw some at the Ace hardware too.

The D250 has a wierd front axle pivot arrangement that shares the bearings from the front PTO shaft. It's significantly different than any other WH tractor and it seems like most every D250 I have been around has a lot of wiggle up there.

It probably needs new bearings. But you'll have to disassemble the pivot assembly to find out. I've personally never done it, but I am betting Charlie or Duane have...perhaps they'll see this.

I checked at one time and I think the bearings are no longer available from Toro, so you'll likely need to measure them (metric) and go to a bearing shop.

Good luck!

Steve

The bearings are mounted in pillow blocks. The last set I bought off ebay were 31.02 with shipping. If you take your old ones out they can be matched up, just remember there metric :hide:
