Jim_M 179 #2 Posted June 9, 2011 No offense intended, but from the look of that bowl the carb is not clean. I would take it apart and soak it in carb cleaner overnight, blow it out, reassemble it and try it again.
jasoncracer 0 #3 Posted June 9, 2011 Will try the stuff on bottom of.bowl.wont come.off also if you look at high idle needle.valve from bowl.side as you turn it its not 100% straight will that do it
smoreau 658 #4 Posted June 9, 2011 I agree with Jim M on this one, that bowl isn't clean. It should be all aluminum insde, not black stuff. I bought a 1 gallon can of dip carb cleaner with a basket in it for $15 from O'Riellys and have cleaned 5 carbs with it and the come out spotless after 24 hours. It has paid for it self in the amount of carb spray I have saved. Best of all the can is still full and should be able to clean many more carbs.

Congrats on the job....are you talking about an ultrasonic cleaner??? If so, we use those at work to clean some of our parts that are particle sensitive, they do a FANTASTIC job!!! :hide:
shallowwatersailor 3,214 #7 Posted June 9, 2011 HF sells a nice ultrasonic unit that is not too expensive. It works wonders on what you need cleaned.

.5racer 14 #9 Posted June 10, 2011 What did you set the points at ? CLEAN that bowl with steelwoole and blast that carb with some cleaner, with a new carb gasket set and reassemble, adjust and set . Good Luck :hide:
shorts 182 #10 Posted June 10, 2011 the ring around the bowl is from a combination of water and hi alcohol content gasohol being left in the carb foe an axtended period, kinda like not draining the carb when winterizing ,been there done that, more than once anyhow, replace the bowk, check the float for damage from being frozen"partially collapsed/crushed" replace it also if necessary, check and thorougly clean the hi speed jet and fuel pickup passages in the stem that the bowl bolts to. sometimes a quick soak in vinegar and then baking soda solution will clean out serious corrosion in a carb. then clean with carb spray and compressed air before assembly

72morph 1 #12 Posted June 11, 2011 Please check point gap as it cost me a lot of money and aggravation. Try 15 to 18 .
puddlejumper 67 #13 Posted June 11, 2011 Not to disagree with everybody because its all valiod points. But you have done this several times and you say its clean maybe stained but clean. Your occasionall miss could be a faulty spark plug or condensor. OR even a plug wire shorting occassionally. I know you said you replaced these items but stranger things have happened.
