formariz 12,045 #1 Posted June 5, 2011 I was wondering if there is any harm in keeping a K91 idling relatively low, at about 750RPM. I use my tractor with a wagon most of the time and when loading and unloading I just like it to purr quietly.
smoreau 658 #2 Posted June 5, 2011 You can get them to around 300 rpm, but there is the problem of proper lubrication. You need enough rpm so the oil slinger can splash enough oil on all the internal parts so the don't lock up. 6-700 should be a good rpm for proper lubrication. puddlejumper 67 #4 Posted June 5, 2011 I have no Idea where I read this or how reliable it was but the magic number was a 1000 rpm for the reason of it being a splash oil system. I would say better safe than sorry :hide:

formariz 12,045 #6 Posted June 5, 2011 That has been my concern, whether or not it gets enough lubrication at low idle. I have a tach on it and 1200RPM sounds like the throttle is on.
