round hood in Uk

Recommended Posts

neil

This is my latest buy, which is a realy rare find here in the uk as i only know of 1 other that i have seen at a few shows.

This 704 was owned by a guy who left his woman for another woman and left all his personal effects with the 1st woman , so she decided to sell all his wordly goods, to pay for child care of his children. (Hope your not too confused at this point). So me being a really helpful kinda guy decided to reieive her of the burden of having this old bit of junk ,as she put it , stuck in her back garden getting in the way.

So armed with a few Dollars/pounds, i take a trip to her house to collect it . she says that it hasnt been used for about two years now, because the spring in the pull start had broken,. so it has been left outside eversince it broke.

i have ordered a new pull start cover and hopfully she will live again.

It all seems to be original except that the previous owner gave it a coat of red/ orangey paint with a brush. Although it doesnt look too bada job for a brush job.

I intend to get her running first and when i have completed my restoration of my 653 i will restore the 704 although i dont think it will need too much restoration mechanically as it seems to have not had alot of hours put on it in all these years

it even came with the original paperwork & manual which was a real bonus

Nice 'Horse :hide: . I like the photo with the 'Horses in the other corral waiting for their turn to come out and play. It would make a good one for the calandar.

looks great! kind of miss the 704 that i sold.... you could probably start it with a length of rope wrapped around the wheel that the pull start clutches grab on to... that how i used to start my 704 as it to had a bad recoil starter. worked great

Nice......really nice machine. I still can't get over how so many places in the world look so much like the East Coast of the US and A..???? Maybe I been living in the desert to long......

BTW.....a REAL man would have adopted the kids instead of the tractor..

Neil,

You certainly seem to have a knack for horse hunting, I'd say you've got one for every day of the week...but it must be closer to say, day of the month :WRS:

Congratulations on a rare round hood, based on your story, how do you sleep at night, :) let me guess.....soundly. :disgust: :hide:

great pictures Neil, and I agree with Buzz about the calendar shot. :hide: Having 3 round hoods now, I kind of feel like I am hogging them after reading how hard they are to find over there. You guys need to come to the states to the big show in 3 weeks...many very nice round hoods there....some for sale also. :WRS: Not to mention, it would be fantastic to meet you guys. :)
