While mowing the lawn today the C drive belt dicided to take a crap on me. At least it was pulled home with another horse. But it sounds like a pully is not happy on the commando.

I just bought this belt from my local wheel horse dealer at the beginning of may! I haven't liked it from the word go seamed to stick and it broke clean in two like it was cut. so I think this time I'm going to go to the electrical place near me that sells industrial belts I may pay more but I never had a problem with there brand. I feel I should have went there first.

I pulled the idler pulley off the commando and sure enough its bad. I found the receipt for the belt I bought and it was 38.96. I am going to check everything on the C just to make sure it wasn't something on the tractor or something I did that broke the belt but I really don't think it was cause it just snapped not while i was doing anything other than mowing. :hide:

Heath-

Recommend Kevlar belts from-

They're priced right and are rugged, but foreign made.

yes Steve it was. I have always bought my belts even when cars had "v" belts from that electrical supply place that i mentioned above and always had very good luck. Well i thought that maybe I would try a toro belt this time and drove out to the toro place near me (about 25 miles away, but its close to my grandma house so killed two birds with one stone) anyway :hide: I thought I would give it a try. I know others are happy with toro/wh parts but this just made me pissed. I'm going to give him a call tomorrow and see if there is any warranty or anything.

I just got off the phone with the dealer and there is no warranty on belts but he would like me to bring out belt so he can look at it. He also asked if I could check or bring the pulley so he can see what they look like. Not a problem. So it looks like I'm going to grandma's today! Plus he has a new pulley for my commando that I need. I'll keep you all posted. From the conversion Its sounds to me like this might have happened before with some belts just by the questions he asked me but it sounds like he may make this right. We'll see.

Mav, Ive been happy with Gates Power Rated Kevlar Belts But remember that chicken chit stamped tin can pulley on the snow chucker? That bucked up a my Gates Kevlar Belt So I know what you mean about pulleys :hide: Toro makes many of the belts in like 1/2" sizes but about 95% of the time I can get a Gates Power Rated belt to fit.

Cheers ~Duke

YES !!! There is a warranty for an over-the-counter defective part. Used to be something like 90 days. The OEM companies use warrantys to track possible

problems with vendor products and/or assembly line problems. Just take it back

with your reciept for a over-the-counter exchange. Perhaps the dealer does'nt know how to file a over-the-counter defective part warranty or just does'nt want to be bothered. We've had belts come back broken just where you said.

Ok I got a new belt. I really don't think I would have if not for the receit saying it was purchessed on may 8th. He said that this has been happing with the newer toro belts and that there are now made "overseas" and he will be sending this one back for them to see. He also asked me if I had it ajusted to tight :hide: I said there is on ajustment on a drive belt :WRS: I think he was trying to trip me up somehow

The pulley that he had on stock for my commando was not right at all it was way smaller. about an inch in dia.

At least I have a new belt.
