shootinok 15 #1 Posted June 2, 2011 :WRS: This is my '79 C-121 I've been messing with... I rebuilt the Hydro transmission but couldn't test it because the K301 engine would not run unless it was full choke; and then not very well. I rebuilt the carburetor. It would then run but had a scary little knock. After reading some old posts on here I checked my point gap and found it at .30, so I tightened it up to .18 and now it runs like a champ! And it drives too!!! So I guess the trans is good. I'm so happy I could give old Festus a hug (you know, if you could hug a tractor) Now to put him back together and see if the mower deck works.... shootinok 15 #14 Posted June 10, 2011 Update......... Got the hood on, went back to the original exhaust (will work out the verticle stack later) and took him on the first Mow. WOW ! This little tractor is awesome I thought the metal seat looked kinda cool - but after a couple hours in it... not so sure (kinda hard on the bum...) I can see WHAD can be very contagious.. tunahead72 2,551 #17 Posted June 10, 2011 I thought the metal seat looked kinda cool - but after a couple hours in it... not so sure (kinda hard on the bum...) I see you asked about the seat in an earlier thread, did you try Tom's (tarcoleo) method using antique springs as well? http://www.wheelhorseforum.com/index.php?showtopic=27968 And for the record, all my tractors are girls, and I give them all a little pat on the rear when they're done working hard for me. :WRS:
tarcoleo 119 #18 Posted June 10, 2011 My friend Ed from Phoenixville mentioned the installation of implement seats on my "C" chassis's. The springs for same were from a John Deere 140 H3 Tractor seat. They come in pairs, but I used only one on each tractor to obtain that baby buggy ride. As a matter of fact, there is a pair of these on Ebay right now. The amount of bend needs to be adjusted with very careful heating so as to make the arms parallel after unbending. Do not heat more than necessary so as not to destroy the temper. Conveniently, there are four holes in the spring making mounting easy. Tom in RI
shootinok 15 #19 Posted June 10, 2011 I did not use the implement springs - maybe I will try that next.
