3rd tractor at 17ys old

hello i just bought a new tractor to add to my ever growing collection. i got bought through a friend a rr-66 in oringinal condition. all the tires are original wheel horse tires and it runs and drives and mowes i think i got a pretty good deal. payed 100 wats it worth. i also have a resotored 308-8 with no attachments and a 702 with a sickel mower and a unbrella and mower deck and snow plow all original runs drives and mows wondering what they are worth any opininons would be great thanks not for sale just wondering if im upside down or not :hide:

Personally I think you did fine, but in retrspect, I wish Wheel Horse tractors were worth a lot more money than they are. I believe the bargans we get keep getting on these guys are keeping the values down.

I wish you were bragging about buying it for a lot more than you are then some of mine and others would be worth a lot more money.

Maybe some day they will be worth their weight in gold. One could only hope.

Wishing Wheel Horses were worth more is like wishing folks would give more for

old tobacco pipes. If folks don't smoke, no matter how interesting an antique pipe

might be, there will be only a few old timers who can appreciate its craft and want

to buy it, clean it up, and smoke it. I'm one of those.

Pipes or tractors- the law of supply and demand operates.

i really enjoy this addiction because its low cost. personally, i wouldnt be bothered at all if the values of these tractors only ever increased at a really slow rate. the problem with a lot of 'hobbies' is they are too expensive, and it gets harder for the enthusiast to find good candidates for their 'tinkering'.

i like the fact that a nice tractor can be had for a few hundred and im not in any hurry for the prices of these things to skyrocket like almost every other 'old hobby' subject.

its expensive enough to restore them without sinking a ton into the purchase too.

To say that you wish the price of these tractors cost more to make your collection worth more is a funny statement to me. Right now I with a lot of people in this country are living on shoe strings. I have peaced together my collection over time for my own use and enjoyment not as an investment. There are more attachments and tractors that I would like to own but just cant do it and still run a family and house. I see tractor listed in various places that have asking prices that makes me laugh and now Im glad to have found someone that likes or can pay these prices.

I think you did great. As for how much they are worth, I look at it this way...if I got it because I wanted and like it and Im comfortable with what I payed for it thats all that matters to me. Obviously one doesn't want to pay $700 bucks for a $105 tractor, but ultimately if having them makes you happy, well then You've got it made.

Martin, I couldn't agree with you more. Theres been a couple of times that I have got into a "cheap" hobby and within a year or so interest in it went thru the roof and so did the price of expanding and maintaining the hobby. I would be thrilled if the prices stayed low or at least affordable so that we can all keep enjoying our addiction and remain out of the dog house I ended up getting addicted to them because My Dad had one and left it to me and they remind me of my Dad plus they are just plain fun and on top of that functional as well. I also want to add that Im super thankful that there are folks like Jordan, Kelly and others that buy them not only for themselves but are willing to sell with some pieces and such.Without these folks we would have a heck of a time keeping our Horses young. A huge plus too is that in doing so lots of them are being saved from being scrapped out and made into fence posts and in the process we are able to buy much needed parts so that we can fix up and maintain our Herds.

I too am on a low budget and find buying Wheel Horse tractors affortable. I guess in my haste to want to see these go up in value I overlooked the affortablity of them. I just think they are great collectables and you guys are correct, hopefully the rest of the tractor collectors will never know how beautifull they are restored.

They are without a doubt one of the easiest and most full tractors to work on and the end results are gradifying.

Cheap ones are out there, you just have to look, but the round hoods and other desirable tractors are getting harder to find at a good price, but deals on them can be found, I buy most of my tractors under $150 most that I pay more for are something I want, or it comes with options or attachments that bring the value up, I try to sell parts at affordable prices, but I do have to buy store and have money tied up in my overhead, so I can't give stuff away, word of mouth goes along ways, tell everyone what your looking for, in time they will find you, I have people call me to sell tractors, some even deliver them to me, but that took time for it to happen, and to have 100+ tractors in stock.
