Fuel pump

I put a new fuel pump gasket dry NO rtv it still a very very lttle bit of oil coming out any suggestions?rtv or no?

i usually wipe a thin layer of ultra black on both sides of a gasket, especially one thats been troublesome with leaking. you only want to use just enough so it doesnt squeeze out and cause any problems internally. if you see it squeeze on the outside its a good bet it looks the same inside.

this will only compensate for minor out of flatness of mating surfaces. check the two mating surfaces without the gasket and see if they are flat against each other.

i would try the rtv first and see if it works, while you have it apart check for flatness too.....

also, check the crankcase breather for restrictions as a build up of pressure in there will force oil out any problem area you have, such as the fuel pump gasket! :hide:

I know you said you put on a new pump but if it's the older metal one a lot of people overlook the pivot pin leaking. It will run down and look like the gasket is leaking. Every now and then people still hook up with the older metal ones. Though it's getting more and more rare. I have not seen a new metal one for at least 2 years maybe longer.
