farmer 1,078 #1 Posted May 31, 2011 I thought I'd post up some pictures of a job I get to do annually, local authorities insist farmers keep footpaths/rights of way clear for Joe Public. So.... + cultivator = solution, nice hour on a nice day Job completed and the beast is back behind bars

cheesegrader 433 #4 Posted June 1, 2011 Wow, that's beautiful. We have access paths where I live too, but they are called game trails. In the fall, they are travelled by pre-venison deer.

farmer 1,078 #9 Posted June 1, 2011 There's no "Right to Roam" in the UK ..yet. But the countryside is covered with public footpaths, bridleways, trailways etc, and many have been established for generations. Its the landowners who maintain styles, gates and keep the paths clear, so everyone can enjoy the countryside. As for using the to work down the fields...........naaa...I might get sunburnt :)

Nice approach to the public access situation - no government meddling, just respect for history and each other. We should take some notes on this side of the pond....... dkopp 1 #12 Posted June 2, 2011 Do you have an issues with people littering or destroying the crops? If you don't, that's great, respect goes a long way.
farmer 1,078 #13 Posted June 2, 2011 Hi Dan, No crop damage or litter worth mentioning out in the fields, but where you get cars pulled up and the driver has lunch their rubbish rarely seems to go home with them. The lanes are quite around here so we get our share of "fly tipping", fridges, washing machines tv's etc,.. if you don't clear it up it will just encourage more. Makes me wonder sometimes. The bottom line is....It takes all to make a world. :hide:
