JC 1965 1,532 #1 Posted May 24, 2011 Hi fellows, The trany on my 1971 Raider 12 (1-0310) went out about 2 weeks ago. I found a 1987 414-8 (31-14K802) this past weekend. The 414-8 tractor is in poor condition but it has a real good 42" mower deck, good tires, new battery and good trany plus other good parts. I bought it for $100 and thought it was worth it for parts. It will be a good doner tractor for my 312-8. Anyway this is my question. Can I put the trany in the 414-8 in my Raider 12? If I can will it just bolt in or will I have to make some changes. Just looking at it, everything looks pretty much the same. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks!!
Kelly 1,033 #2 Posted May 25, 2011 Look closer at the brake drum location I'm not sure if they are in the same spot, if they are it will be a bolt in, if not you will have to mess with linkage for that, but it should be a bolt in for the 312.

Thanks for the help Kelly, I'll check out the break location if it ever stops raining. I just had time between rains Sunday to pick up the tractor and get it home. I parked it on my patio and threw a tarp over it and It's been raining off and on ever since. Thanks again!! :hide:

You know, I'll bet someone here could make a few bucks if he designed and marketed a bimini rain top for these rigs given the sucky weather we've had this spring! 145Automatic 7 #5 Posted May 26, 2011 Duff, you maybe on to somthing with the Bimini top. I know some people dont like to get there horses wet. But, when the sun does come out again, think of all the nice cool shade that would be provided. If one could just make it duck tree branches. :hide:
