My specific example would be what the difference is between the 753 we had when I was a kid, and a 702 that I might pick up. The 702 looks like I remember the 753, but there must be some difference? TT-(Moderator) 1,162 #2 Posted May 24, 2011 Simplified translation: With some exceptions, model numbers from 1960 to 1967 were horsepower ~ transmission and/or starter type ~ "ones" digit of the 1960 decade. A 753 would break down to a 7hp engine, 3 speed gear drive/electric start (represented by the digit "5"), 1963 The 702 breaks down almost the same...... "0" was used - but the tractor was a 3 speed with electric start. (one of the exceptions) "0" normally represented recoil start.
