Would like to know do I have a 8 / 10 or 4 pinion.

And what is it that makes the 8 pinion stronger that the 10 and 4.

I have a B80 Id# from Tag on Tower is 61-08K801-12405

It has a Uni-Drve Part # on trans it is 2988185

It does have the 1 1/8 shafts.

8 speed Hi/Low

Thanks :hide:

TT

You have a 1976 B-80 / 8 speed.

If the tranz is original, it's a #5091 - which is the same tranz used in the first generation C series (up to 1976) and the '76 B-60/80/100.

It does have the 8 pinion differential with 1 1/8" axles, which makes it the strongest factory-built differential of the Uni-Drives.

They are stronger because of more and larger contact areas between the gear teeth, the size and design of the pinions, and the number of pinions.

It has a Uni-Drve Part # on trans it is 2988185

2988185 is actually the PATENT number - not the part number.

Thank You TT.

You have answered my questions. Every now & then I put a heavy load on, and its good to know I have the stronger trans. And I take my B60 to tractor pulls for the youth class pulls, kids really like to drive it. The B60 is a real slow mover and thats a good thing for the youth class.

Thank you TT. :hide:
