New To Me B-80

Recommended Posts

bonedaddy

Got my recently aquired (from rustynut) B-80 running today. I picked up a non running tractor, deck, and a spare 8 Horse Kohler. Swapped the head (stripped plug hole), coil, condensor, and exhaust off the spare engine and she whirred to life. Only problem is I can't get it to start off the key. I know the switch is good cause I tested its continuity. I got the seat and clutch pedal switches bypassed. Only one left is the PTO switch which has five wires in it. Its 40 bucks at the dealer and I aint paying that before I test the old one. Anyone know how to bypass it? Which terminals do I jump? I also sprayed and cleaned all the connections.

Right now I have wire from the solenoid + to the coil +. and I jump from the battery to the starter side of solenoid to crank it.

Once it starts it runs like a champ. I was worried about that little 8hp Kohler but I'm surprised at how much grunt it has. Was thinking of repowering to a 10, but not anymore.

Yeah man it was cool to meet another member. Finally got it to start with the key after studying wiring diagrams. Had to switch the coil + and solenoid + wires coming from the key. Runs n cuts great.
