Recommended Posts

HorseFixer

I am at work and was wondering if anyone had a 417 and can tell me the width of the brake band. Was going to order some Friction material but dont know the size.

Thanks ~Duke

The brake band is a 9593, and it uses material 1-1/2" wide. Available from McMaster & Carr.

I still have some material left from when I was making them.

PM me.

8 speed vrs hydro difference?

Yep, at least according to the parts/service manual for the 1986 300 & 400 series tractors:

#9593 -- 8-speed

#109371 -- automatic

Keep in mind these are part numbers for the brake band assembly, not just the material.

And what did ya goo them on with Bob?

Silicone clear adhesive/caulk. Let it set 24 hours before using.

The info I gave you was on the 417-8. Looks like the brake material is the same width and thickness though for the 417-A even though the band is different.

You guys seem like the ones to ask. Can anybody point me to a stream about adding some kind of brakes to my D-160? The "neutral" position on the hydro drive does not stop it from rolling, which can be pretty scary. Yes I know I can carry a wheel chock! :hide:

I use mcmaster.com part number 6175K113. It's $4.27 a foot and $5.00 shipping when I last purchased 10 feet. 3/16" thick by 1 1/2" wide
