Coadster32 793 #1 Posted May 12, 2011 Well, I thought I'd get down to two roundhoods and be happy. This little bugger made it's way into my garage late last week. It needed a bit of TLC, but I got her running, and am quite pleased. The start/gen fires it up, and charges @13.5 avg thu throttle range. It was wired up 1/2 bad, fluids in motor/trans were pretty runny, carb dirty, points dirty, etc. (as you all know how it goes). Anyway, I took it for it's maiden voyage tonight. The motor purrs like a kitten, tires hold air, and tins look real nice. (except for typ. split in hood). She smokes a little, the tranny is a little winey, the fuel pump connector leaks a little, as does some motor, tranny seals. It's perfect! She looks great sitting next to the 551 and 854. Coadster32 793 #6 Posted May 12, 2011 Thanks guys. I bought a new battery for it last night, and will clean up some of the wiring tonight. I told the guys at work that I'm going to leave it original, and not restore it. They laughed at me. (perhaps they know something that I don't yet) .I'm hoping to drive it to work tomorrow. What is the main difference between the 3 and the 5 middle numbers? I am guessing Starter/Gen vs. Block starter? That wouldn't make sence as I have a 551 block starter.
