C120 deck

Recommended Posts

I want to make my deck a mulcher. Can I use Gator blades and fabricate a plug or cover for the discharge hole? Or is there a cover available?

The bigger question is will it work as a mulcher?

Thanks,

Frank

I have those Gator blades on my 48" SD and love the way they work, even in the tallest grass they get the job done; back to your question, my deck still has a discharge and not set up to be a mulching deck. I would be curious myself if they could be done up this away and what needs to be done.

i have bought a few side discharge decks that the previous owners had plgged up the shute,it bogs down if too much grass and wet,it also doesnot spred the clippings evenly,so i took them off

Frank,

I haven't tried this myself yet, but apparently you can use Gator blades with an open discharge chute and get a very nice cut -- not a mulching mower exactly, but very fine clippings that spread evenly over a large distance, no bogging. Just be VERY aware of how close your blades are to the opening in the deck, and remember how dangerous that can be, don't want anybody to get hurt.

Too bad you're so far away, I have a near new 42" mulcher I would sell you.
