Horse-Drawn

which bearing?

There's 2 in the manual PTO.

There's the little 3/4"ID bearing on the nose(the one the hoop pushes against)

And the internal needle bearing.

The small one one the nose is sealed, so no, spray won't help. they run $5-9 around me & are pretty easy to replace.

The large internal needle bearing can be GREASED, NOT SPRAYED. To grease it, take the pin off the nose of the PTO (like changing a drive belt), slide the PTO off & rub around a Tablespoon of grease on the bearings. Double that if they're dry.

I've seen kits of both bearings and the seal online for around $40+/-

Jay,

Good information there, thanks!

Sounds like something to check and grease every time you replace one of the drive belts, or even annually?

Now that I know this, I'll be looking at mine pretty soon (little bit of noise also). What do you look for to see if the bearings or seal need to be replaced? Anything else to check?

:wh:
