D-180 Stalling

Recommended Posts

 Seems my D-180 doesn't like to run warm. Not sure my gauges are working properly, but Trans. oil temp got up to just over 150 (155-160?well below red line). Was running fine, left it at idle to put some stones in the bucket, and it stalled. I noticed the temp was higher than usual (I've only run it for short periods in the past). It wouldn't start for about an hour, by which time the oil temp had dropped to bottom of gauge. Any ideas?I was just getting the hang of the tractor, and about to get a lot of work done. After sitting for the hour, it started right up, and seemed to function fine. I didn't want it to die again, so I just put the beast back in the garage. Thanks, Brian

I have had 2 different kohlers do that and it was the fuel pump both times. May be apples and oranges but just a thought

My first thought is vapor lock.Fuel Pump like stated. Look at service bulletins #154 and #160. They both give ways to fix.

Thanks very much! Where can I find the service bulletins? Hope to get it to mechanic next week.

I agree with vapor lock. Common issue with fuel hoses routed thru or behind the front shroud. I've solved dozens of "stalling at temp" issues just by moving the fuel line around the engine.
