dmoore 962 #1 Posted April 15, 2011 Does anyone know if those white 42" side discharge mower deck wheels are available? I can find red only...my 78 C-101 had white originally just like the front & rear wheels...Thanks! Dave
C-Series14 15 #2 Posted April 15, 2011 I have never seen a WH deck, especially that era, with white deck wheels...all red. BUT, I do have a ton of brochures and my 1978 brochure does show white deck wheels on all the decks, A-Series thru the D-Series. I think though like alot of parts, over the years, they went to red deck wheels and that is why you see a majority of red... Maybe someone else will know a place that sells close matches of the white ones that will fit.
dmoore 962 #3 Posted April 18, 2011 Yes, I have the same brochure............they were in fact white....guess I'll be painting the red wheels white! Oh, BTW, Anyone know the correct shade of white for the tractor wheels on a 78 C-101 8-speed? Blasting mine down to bare metal this week and will be repainting all four.....D

dmoore 962 #5 Posted April 19, 2011 You know what's funny is that I cannot find a listing for a 1978 42" side discharge mower deck....the model # on my original was 95-42MS00...I replaced it back in 99 with a new shell & bearings...Four Brothers doesn't have #95-42MS00 listed in the parts look up. I have an original Wheel Horse mower deck parts manual for 1978 and the only model numbers for a 42" side discharge are 85-42MS01 &95-42MS00... Is the linen beige available in a spray can? Might there be a very close match in a popular mfg spray can...I didn't want to go through the trouble of mixing & using a spray gun....Thanks for the info Dave
dmoore 962 #6 Posted April 19, 2011 Never mind on the linen beige paint...I just found what I need in the resto section....man I gotta start looking harder before asking all these questions!
mcwh1950 2 #7 Posted April 20, 2011 Dave One of the thing I had learn here is that the AMC group that bought wheel horse in 1974 went to the double first two numbers system in 1976. The first number was the year that the tractor or attachment was make in most case except for a few. 61=1976 71=1977 81=1978 91=1979 01=1980 In 1981 the second full year of the black hood tractor ( I say this because the c-161 twin engine black hood was make in 1978 & 1979) AMC used 01 for all the c serial tractor for the first two number and 02 as the last two number. In 1982 AMC sold out to the Munn Corps and it seen like the numbers system got all screw up again. So maybe your original manual is a 1978 mid-year manuals for 1978 & 1979. Don1977 605 #9 Posted May 21, 2011 The 75 series decks were original with Double "D" spindles with the Linen Beige Wheels. I have one that I have upgraded the spindles to the 17MM Metric Spindles.
The Toolman 22 #10 Posted May 21, 2011 Don't know what a dd spindle is, but the deck does have the original white wheels on it.
