kj4kicks 154 #51 Posted May 25, 2008 Karl, the wheels look great ! When you get to the deck decals, if you're worried about them falling apart, try this: Get some nice wide clear packing tape (here we go with the tape again), and cover the decal before you use a nice new razor blade to take them off. Trim it to about 1/8" around the edge before removing the decal. As long as it's clear tape, TD can still scan them to make new ones. Keep up the great work ! We're proud of you ! nylyon-(Admin) 7,880 #52 Posted May 25, 2008 I will give that a try. I started a new post on the deck, for now the tractor is done. Thank you all for your comments, I appreciate them all.

kj4kicks 154 #54 Posted May 25, 2008 How does a guy go about getting one of those magnets that Karl has on the 160 in one of the pictures ? TD has them on his website: http://www.troopsigns.com/ Click on the "Wheel Horse" section to see all his fine work.
nylyon-(Admin) 7,880 #55 Posted May 27, 2008 Tim (catman) scared up a hood ornament (Thank you Tim), that and the steering wheel insert are done. Just need to get a couple more things like foot rest pads and hub caps (little white ones) the hydraulic valve and this will be all set

kpinnc 14,576 #58 Posted May 28, 2008 You're definately setting some high standards for the rest of us with that tractor! It looks fantastic Karl! Now, how many times do we need to say something about that lawn? The tractor is hurting enough, so the manicured lawn has just got to go! Kevin
Rollerman 290 #59 Posted May 28, 2008 Karl you've pegged the drool o meter
T-Mo-(Moderator) 4,599 #60 Posted May 28, 2008 Karl, I will say that you might have the best looking Wheel Horse, at least, the best looking one I've seen.
bustedglass 1 #61 Posted May 28, 2008 Thanks Eldon - gonna go shoppin ! Karl, what can I say that has not been said ? Lookin GOOD
nylyon-(Admin) 7,880 #62 Posted May 28, 2008 Thank you for all the compliments, and I am proud to have this C-160. Eldon does an awsome job to the point where I just needed to give it some finishing touches. I look forward to getting the deck completed too, so it can get to weekly use. I'm also thinking that this will be the Snow Blower tractor, but that is still up in the air since that would mean that I have to strip and paint the snow blower too! Can't be having an older looking blower on this C-160 now can we?
T-Mo-(Moderator) 4,599 #63 Posted May 28, 2008 Karl, that's correct. You now have to keep the standard up.
nylyon-(Admin) 7,880 #64 Posted February 11, 2009 Dug up this one from the grave. Now that the weather is warmer, I am beginning to get the urge to work on the C-160. It currently has the blower attached to it, but it hasn't seen any action yet this year. I'm trying to get all the parts that I need to complete the mower deck, but still need to blast the shell. Anyone close to Brewster, NY with a blasting cabnet? Need to get the lift valve (see wanted section) and cyl repaired as well.
iicap 1 #65 Posted February 12, 2009 Karl being new around here i hadn't seen this thread, I read the whole thing and I have to say like all the others have, what an incredible job you have done on that C-160.
Brian1045 28 #66 Posted February 12, 2009 I missed this restore as well. It was posted before I became a member. A+ job, one of the best I've seen.
KyBlue 655 #67 Posted February 12, 2009 Karl, have you called around in your area about getting it rebuilt??? the valve and the cylinder?? E should have the hoses and mats for ya..
whchris 5 #68 Posted February 12, 2009 karl you need a poor mans blast cabinet like me some thick clear plastic 2x4's furring strips a good set of dish washing gloves and a trusted person to do some duct taping (the person hast to be trusted to untape you)
whchris 5 #69 Posted February 12, 2009 oh and the cheep fiber filters for central air i buy the 10x13 or what ever it is cut it in quarters and sandwich them all together with some furring strips for a decent air vent in your poor mans cabinet (or man who cant justify buying one's cabinet)
kj4kicks 154 #70 Posted February 12, 2009 Hey Scott, That's an older pic. It has mats on it now . I installed them for him when I picked up a 314-8 that he found and picked up for me. Rebuilding the cylinder is no problem, but the valve he has is wrong. According to the "wanted" thread, I think he has found the correct one. The original thread about the story of this tractor got lost when I had to relocate some pics. Anyhow, for those that are interested, here is the pictorial progress of this project: http://s219.photobucket.com/albums/cc143/k...20C160/?start=0 I don't consider it a "full restore" since I didn't remove the engine, trans, or front axle. However, it was a pretty intense repaint job, with the idea being to intentionally leave some of the detail work for Karl and his kids to enjoy doing together. nylyon-(Admin) 7,880 #71 Posted February 12, 2009 Here is the original thread on this This was one great day. I thought I was trading a C-120 and Electro for a similar C-160 and ended up with something very special. The first update thread
KyBlue 655 #72 Posted February 12, 2009 I wish that I could have been in on this for ya Karl, but it was in the works long before I joined up.. Still a pretty sweet tractor, and surprise to receive.. and im with the others, its set a pretty high benchmark for the rest of us restorers... (cept E he keeps raising the bar higher and higher)
nylyon-(Admin) 7,880 #73 Posted February 12, 2009 I'll bet the C-120 he's working on will look even better
iicap 1 #74 Posted February 12, 2009 Well Karl, this old man has enough trouble keeping one day straight from another. But as Paul Harvey would say, " Now I know the rest of the story ", at least I think I've got it straight. The caper that Eldon and the others pulled on you was super. They must think the world of you and tho I know none of them, in my book They are the GREATEST. I can feel the fun you are having putting the icing on the cake, eerrr, Horse i mean
nylyon-(Admin) 7,880 #75 Posted February 12, 2009 When Chris, Mike and Ipulled into Eldon's driveway, I got out of the truck, Eldon looks at me square in the eye and says "Karl, I'm really sorry. Something fell on the hood, and it got messed up. I tried to fix it a little bit.. well see for yourself...." He goes into the garage, opens up the door and HOLY COW! I'm sure glad something fell on that hood I'll tell ya!
